What is peace?
"Many people think of peace as the absence of war. But we can feel peace even in times of war, and we can lack peace even when no war is raging. There mere absence of conflict is not enough to bring peace to our hearts" (peace).
Our Savior said "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (John 14:27).
How can we allow our Savior to give us peace?
This world is crazy! Everywhere we turn, morality is disregarded and sometimes even degraded. War and rumors of war flood our ears. Death and destruction just seem to be normal these days. (Perhaps that is a little dramatic, but not too far off! :) ) Is it really possible for us to live in this world and truly feel peace? YES. I know it is!
The answer can be found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We receive true peace "by Grace" and we receive grace through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
Because our Savior went forth "suffering pains and afflictions and temptations off every kind," we can be freed from the upsetting thoughts and feelings that come as we make mistakes. We begin this process as we develop FAITH in the Savior Jesus Christ and His Atonement, and we REPENT. When we feel clean and free from guilt, it doesn't really matter what is going on around us. We can know that we are right with God and "if God be for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31)
I know that sometimes we can say these things but sometimes we have a hard time accepting them. It all starts with FAITH!
