Are YOU on the Ark?

At an institute/religion class last night we were studying Noah's Ark. I've heard the story a thousand times, as have all of you, I am sure. But something changed by view.

We discussed the things that led to flood: corruption, violence, not listening to the prophet, etc. We related those to our day. All things I had thought of before.

Then  we looked at how the Ark could be a
representation of our Savior:

  • He is the only way to be saved (as was the Ark at the time)
  • He lifts us above the world and the wickedness.
  • He does not force anyone to be saved, we have to take the steps to get on the boat.
  • He provides protection
(There are many others, but I'll stop there)

Then our teacher asked:
Are YOU on the Ark?

Immediately I thought, "Well of course I am! Except..." and then I began to think of all the mistakes I've made, particularly the ones I have made over and over.

Then I learned a lesson through the Spirit.
I heard this question in my mind:

"Have you asked Him to help you with them?"

That is when I realized:

Coming to Christ DOES NOT mean you no longer sin
Coming to Christ means that you acknowledge mistakes
and ASK HIM to help you overcome them

That brothers and sisters is GRACE. It is the Atonement at work.

"Remember that repentance is not just the backup plan. Repentance IS the plan
of happiness for every person."
