This election has been an eye opener for me. I have seen so many opinionated, passionate people. And while nothing is wrong with opinions or passions, I have found that just about every political post is not only rooting for something but they ALL seem to be putting down something/someone else. My social media pages have been flooded with things from mild pessimism to downright hatred.
However, this week for my Old Testament class, I read the story of Joseph. A man whose whole life was ripped from him, thanks to his family members who should have loved him. And then from a boss's wife who had received only respect from him.
And how did Joseph react? With hatred or anger? Not at all! He was always doing his best in whatever situation he was in. Even in prison he became loved and was given responsibility no doubt because of his integrity. And when he came across those who did so much harm to him he wept for joy.
I hope to be more like him. While his situations were sometimes very dark, he always had reason to hope. We all do! Our Savior gives us every reason to hope.
I listened to words of President Gordon B. Hinckley that I LOVE:
“Be believing. Be happy. Don’t get discouraged. Things will work out.”
This worked for Joseph, it will work for all of us.
