As the new year rolls around, we often reflect on the accomplishments of the previous year, which also reminds us of the "deeds undone and the songs unsung." This in turn leads us to set goals to improve.
Funny that we sometimes wait to do this every 365 (or 366) days.
Regardless, why set goals?
Elder M. Russell Ballard taught:
“I am so thoroughly convinced that if we don’t set goals in our life and learn how to master the techniques of living to reach our goals, we can reach a ripe old age and look back on our life only to see that we reached but a small part of our full potential. When one learns to master the principles of setting a goal, he will then be able to make a great difference in the results he attains in this life.”
I LOVE this! I know that it is true! When we set goals, we reach accomplishments that we never would've otherwise.
One important part of setting goals is to NOT dwell on those things that we haven't done. We must look forward to the future! Our Savior has made it possible for us to overcome our weaknesses; to push past them and to improve. (This is all a part of repentance).

Let us show our faith in Him, set those goals, and become more the person we want to be.
